Robert C. Marsh, 83, a former resident of Shaftsbury and more recently of Albe Drive, Bennington, died Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Albany Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in Cambridge, NY on February 21, 1935, he was the son of the late Earl C. and Lilah (Harwood) Marsh. He received his early education in the Cambridge schools and was a 1953 graduate of North Bennington High School.
Bob married the former Natalie Moriarty at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington on May 1, 1954. Natalie died on July 13, 2007. He later married Cindy (Whiteway) Watson at the First Baptist Church in Bennington on October 10, 2009.
Bob owned and operated a farm in Shaftsbury for 44 years until the time of his retirement.
He was a member of Tucker Lodge # 60, F. & A.M. for over 60 years and was also a member of the Cairo Temple Shriners and the Royal Order of Jesters Court 105. He had been a long time member of the White Creek, NY Fire Department and served on the Shaftsbury Zoning Board for 20 years. He enjoyed trips to Maine and Nova Scotia and winters in Arizona.
An avid outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing golf and poker and making trips to the casino.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia "Cindy" Marsh of Bennington; two daughters, Linore (Michael) Keezer of Detroit, MI and Janet (Bill) O'Bryan of Shaftsbury; a son, Tim (Bonnie) Marsh of Bennington; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services celebrating the life of Robert C. Marsh will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Robin Green officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Private committal services will take place at Grandview Cemetery in Shaftsbury at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Robert C. Marsh's memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield, MA through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
