Richard A. Robinson, 89, a longtime resident of Shaftsbury, VT died peacefully Friday August 18, 2017 at his residence following a long illness.
He was born in North Bennington, VT August 12, 1928. He was the son of the late Albert Kenneth Robinson and Kilda Louise (Parmenter) Robinson. He received his education in North Bennington.
Mr. Robinson was a United States Army veteran where he served in the Korean War.
He married the former Mary Louise E. LaBrie on February 6, 1954 at Sacred Heart Church in Bennington. Mrs. Robinson died February 25, 2016.
For over 30 years Mr. Robinson was employed by the McCullough family in North Bennington.
He spent a lot of time at his camp in Chester, a place he thoroughly enjoyed and had owned for over 50 years.
Survivors include two sons, William Robinson and Lucy of Shaftsbury, VT and James Robinson and Linda Smith of North Bennington. Three grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher and Elizabeth and a great granddaughter Abagail. Along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a sister Ruth Mattison and a brother, Albert Robinson.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Friday August 25, from 1:30pm until 3:00 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday August 25, at 3:00 p.m with Kenneth Coonradt, Chaplin of the Vermont Veterans Home officiating.
