Maureen A. Gorman, 85, of North Bennington, Vermont died at home surrounded by her family on September 6, 2021.
Maureen was born in Bennington, VT on October 16, 1936 to the late Michael K. O'Brien and Margaret M. (Moriarty) O'Brien originally from Ireland. She received her education in North Bennington.
Maureen married the former John "Jack" Gorman at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington on July 14, 1956. Together they raised six loving children.
Maureen was employed by Bennington College in the telecommunications and administration department and retired after serving 21 years there. She enjoyed her job and was well known and admired by the staff and students alike. Maureen's greatest passion was to her family. She always enjoyed family events and traveling with her husband to visit far and abroad. Her life was always about being kind and loving.
Her passion for cooking was well known and enjoyed by all who knew her.
She is survived by ; daughters Colleen Moore, Kelly (Ernie) Paquette and Bridget (John) Andrews and sons John (Betty) Gorman, Michael Gorman and Stephen (Michele) Gorman. She is also survived by her sister Julie O'Donnell (North Bennington), a daughter in law Brenda Gorman ; grandchildren Rebecca Gorman Mitchell, John Gorman Jr, Laura Gorman Weiler, Meghan Moore Swartzbaugh, Ryan Moore, Aaron Gorman, Britni Gorman Christiansen, Stephen Gorman Jr and Quinn Andrews; ten great grandchildren, Ceili, Maddi, Faith, Kaitlyn, Yasmin, Zuzu, Noah, Riley, Cooper and Kora; two sister-in-laws Patricia O'Brien and Marie McKeon. Maureen is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins. She was predeceased by brothers Michael "Kevin" O'Brien, Diermiud O'Brien, and sister Margret "Maggie" O'Brien, son-in-law Greg Moore, grandson Dylan Andrews.
A special thank you to Maria, Julie and Lynda and the entire hospice staff at BAYADA for their care and support along with Maureen's private duty companions, Linda, Nancy and Veronica. Also a big thank you to our sister Bridget for the tremendous love and support helping to care for Mom.
Maureen continues her gift of giving and loving. She has decided to gift her body to science through the Anatomical Gifts Program at Albany Medical School.
At Maureen's request a private "Celebration of Life" will be held at the families convenience due to Covid.
