Katherine E. Loveland, 84, passed away on Thursday February 17, 2022 in Hoosick Falls, New York. A longtime resident of 48 Harbour Road in Bennington, Vermont, where she resided with her daughter Eddi-Lynn Loveland.
Ms. Loveland was born the only child to the late Kenneth and Edna (Teal) Crandall on June 25, 1937.
Ms. Loveland attended North Bennington Schools, where she graduated in the Class of 1955.
After graduation, she was employed by Thompson Manufacturing Co. in North Bennington, Vermont.
At the age of 25, she welcomed her only son, Scott K. Crandall into the world.
On December 29, 1963, Katherine married Edward M. Loveland. Over the next 11 years, they welcomed two daughters, Dianne and Eddi-Lynn. Although their marriage ended, anyone who knew Katherine, knew Edward was always her one true love.
In later years, Katherine became a Nanny and was called "Nanny K" by whom she referred to as her other kids.
Katherine enjoyed playing bingo, doing puzzles, crocheting and taking car rides, although shopping was one of her greatest pleasures. She also loved spending time at home and taking walks with her dog, Bridget.
Katherine is survived by her two daughters and son-in-laws, Dianne Martelle-Longe and Lonny Longe of Johnsonville, New York and Eddi-Lynn Loveland and Matthew Cole of Bennington, Vermont, a previous son-in-law William (Butch) Martelle, Sr. of Wells, Vermont; Three grandsons, William "Billy" Martelle, II of Glens Falls, NY, Daniel Scott Martelle and his wife Alyssa of Granville, NY and Cody J.W. Longe of Bennington, VT. Three great granddaughters, Trinity, Isabella, Kallie, and two great grandsons Kemper and Kamdyn. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Katherine was predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Edna Crandall; her beloved ex-husband Edward M. Loveland and her son Scott K. Crandall, who was taken tragically at the age of 20.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Katherine will be laid to rest in a graveside service held at St. John's Cemetery in North Bennington, Vermont where her daughters will have the remains of their father, Edward M. Loveland laid to rest with their mom.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Katherine's name to a charity of one's choice through Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
