Joseph E. Chellis, Sr., a resident of Bennington, died Wednesday April 29, 2020 following a brief illness.

Joe was born on November 21, 1962 in Bennington, Vermont to the late Dana Chellis and Marjorie Snyder.

A loving Son, Brother, Father, PaPa and friend that ALL called "Gutzy"!! He liked to fish and hunt but most of all loved being a PaPa!! He always made people laugh, definitely should have been a comedian. He will truly be missed by many, many people. He loved all of his pets Nala, Punky, and Takota.

Joe leaves behind his ex-wife Kathy Carpenter, who still helped him out like they were married, his three children and their spouses, Joseph E. Chellis, Jr. and fiancé Rachael, Scott C. Chellis and wife Kayla, Jessica L. Chellis and fiancé Dylan. He also leaves sisters and their spouses, Vicky Radcliffe and husband Bob, Audrey Dolby and husband Grover and a brother, Dana Chellis; Five grandchildren Collin Chellis, Ayden Chellis, Cole Chellis, Aleysia Chellis and Ava Jane, Chellis.

He also leaves many special nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Joe is predeceased by a sister Sandy M. Chellis and a brother Brian K. Chellis.

Services will be held at a later date when friends and family can travel and gather together.
