John Tidd Sr.

March 4, 1945 — October 13, 2017

John Tidd Sr., 72, formerly of Bennington, passed away October 13, 2017 at Tidewell Hospice House in Bradenton, FL.

John was born in Bennington on March 4, 1945, he was the son of the late Charles Tidd and Celia (Mears) Long. He attended Bennington Catholic High School.

While residing in Florida, John was employed with Tropicana and more recently Sunflower Carriers for whom he drove tractor trailers cross-country until his retirement.

Survivors include his son, John Tidd Jr. and his companion, Tara and their daughter Lexis, all of Torrington, CT; his daughter, Maureen Fitzgerald and her husband, Jordan Sr. (Jody) of Sun City Center, FL and their children Jordan Jr., Joseph, Michael, Christopher, Jasmine, Moriah and Jeremiah; his sisters, Jeanne (David) Denette of Shaftsbury and Dianne (Thomas) Marchinkowski of Pownal; an aunt, Sue (Mears) DeMarsico of North Bennington and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Barbara Leonard and Corrine Tidd.

John's request was to be cremated and brought home to be buried with his mother at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.

Services are being provided by the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
