John A. "Jack" Boulger
July 11, 1935 — January 13, 2019
He was born in Clarksburg, MA July 11, 1935. He was the son of the late Frank and Evelyn (Ledger) Boulger. Jack received his education in North Adams and was a graduate of Drury High School.
He married the former Silvia A. Guttmann on December 12, 1970 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pittsfield, MA. He was a dedicated Husband and loving father, grandfather and friend to many.
For 44 years Jack had been employed at Sprague Electric in North Adams as a Product Design Specialist. Jack was instrumental in the design of the Secondary Landing Craft System for the Apollo Spacecraft. He was the longest running president of the IFPTE Local 101 Union, serving from 1970 until 1996. He also served as Secretary Treasurer of the IFPTE Northeast Council International Union and was on the Board of Directors of the Sprague Electric Credit Union for 13 years.
An avid hunter and outdoorsman, he always anticipated the next hunting or fishing season which he always shared with family and friends. He was a life long member of the NRA. He served on the Board of Trustees at the North Adams Regional Hospital in former years. A long time member of the Zion Lutheran Church, he also served on the Church Council.
Survivors include his wife Silvia Boulger of Pownal, VT. His children, John Boulger of Bennington, Shawn Boulger and his wife Heather of Wallingford, VT, Brian Boulger and his wife Emily of Haverhill, MA, Daniel Boulger and his wife Victoria of Wells, Maine and Jason Boulger of Pownal, VT. Nine grandchildren (Chad, James, Bethany, Rebecca, Logan, Ryan, Elizabeth, Jack, and Mathew) and one great grandchild (Colden). A sister in law Eunice Boulger, Brother-in-law Werner Guttmann and his wife Judith, and their daughter Sarah, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a son James Boulger and a brother Michael Boulger.
A service to celebrate the life of Jack Boulger will be held on Thursday January 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pittsfield, MA. Calling hours will be held before the service at 10:00 and a light lunch served after.
