Jared M. Bennett May 17, 1983 – June 28, 2023 Jared Matthew Bennett, 40, of North Adams, Mass. entered eternal rest on June 28, 2023. Born in Bennington, Vt. on May 17, 1983, Jared attended grade schools in Bennington before his family moved to Albany, NY in 1998. Jared started drawing at a young age and made beautiful pieces for his family and friends throughout the years. He was designing a tattoo for his daughter at the time of his passing. He mastered a variety of skills including construction, carpentry, auto mechanics, and sales. Jared enjoyed bodybuilding and most recently worked at a gym in North Adams. A headstrong and free spirit, Jared went where the wind blew him. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making those around him laugh with his silly antics. His tough guy appearance kept him safe during the rough times and his soft heart endeared him to his family and close friends. Like many of his generation, he got caught up in the scourge of addiction. He fought for years to break away but it got him in the end. His brokenhearted family has now joined so many others whose loved ones have lost the battle. He is survived by his children Arianna and Jaycob Bennett; his mother Barbara Bennett White (Andrew); his father Gregory Elliott (Michelle); two brothers Elijah Bennett-Gosselin (Sara Atherton) and children Gryffin, Greyson and Charlotte; Jason Stanley (Jessica) and children Shealyn, Riley and Carter; his maternal grandmother Beverly Moore Marcoux; paternal grandparents Barbara and William Elliott; uncles Robert Bennett, Jr (Linda); aunts Melissa Bennett (Todd Rogers); Penny Mattson (Eric); and Deanna Elliott Ebner (Carlos); uncles Brian Schumann (Barb Charron); Scott Elliott (Elvira); his cousins Kristi Burdick (Jay), Ethan Bennett, Lucas and Alayna Rogers; Soyer, Baxter and Myles Mattson; Taylor Schumann; Blake and Reina Elliott; Bryan and Sophia Ebner; and Riley, Morgan and Kenny. Jared was the first grand- and great-grandchild in the Bennett, Moore and Elliott families. He was predeceased by his great-grandmother, Barbara R. Bennett, who was 83 at the time of his birth and babysat him as an infant and toddler until she could no longer lift or chase him; his great-grandparents Ann and James Moore; his grandfather Robert Bennett, Sr.; step-grandfather William Marcoux; uncle William Schumann, Jr.; and chosen father Paul R. Gosselin, Sr. Burial will take place in the Old First Church Cemetery in Old Bennington and private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you remember that every addict has a family that loves them and wishes they could break free.
