James Jackson Lee

James Jackson Lee, Jr. passed from this earthly life on February 22, 2023 at age 93 with his family by his side. The son of the late James J. Lee and Emily Schniewind Lee, Jim was born in New York City on April 13, 1929 and raised in Syosset, Long Island. He graduated from Brooks School where he was a star athlete and school leader. He attended Kenyon College until entering the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He and Patricia Overton Lee were married in 1953. The Lees lived in Farmington, CT when Jim worked in Hartford as a salesman for Monroe Calculating Company, a division of Litton Industries. In 1961 Jim became branch manager of the sales office in Worcester, MA. The Lees raised their three children in Grafton, MA. In 1980 they moved to Manchester, Vermont, transforming the Overton family home into the Birch Hill Inn. Guests were welcomed there for over 15 years. Jim was always generous with his time, talent, and resources. Throughout his life, he was recognized for his service to church, school, and community. He loved being active and enjoyed tennis, golf, skiing, fishing, canoeing, working on his farm, and, most importantly, he cherished time with his family. He was Pat's beloved husband for almost 70 years and a loving father of Susan Pierce (Peter) of Manchester, Pamela Veith (Frank) of Katonah, NY, and James J. Lee, III (Anne) of Lexington, MA. He was adored by his 8 grandchildren; Sara, Samantha, Laura, Caroline, Benjamin, Jennifer, Ethan, and Aidan and his 6 great-grandchildren. A family graveside service will be held at a later date.
