Eilene D. Peckham, 97, a resident of Hall St. in North Bennington, VT died Thursday, February10, 2022 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born in Bennington, VT December 20, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Elbert and Mary (Winslow) Davis. Eilene received her education in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington High School. She later graduated as an R.N. from New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, MA.
She married Robert Peckham on March 31, 1945.
Eilene worked as a private duty nurse . She also worked at the Prospect Nursing Home in North Bennington and the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington from which she retired.
Eilene was a member of the North Bennington Baptist Church for many years where she was very active in the church choir. Later in her life she joined the Second Congregational Church in Bennington. She was also a member of the Bennington Chorale Society and the Bennington Museum. She enjoyed gardening, especially her vegetable and flower gardens. In earlier years she enjoyed camping with her family. They traveled throughout the United States and Canada.
Survivors include a son, Steven Peckham of Shaftsbury. A daughter, Jean Buchanan and her husband Scott of High Pointe, N.C. Her grandchildren, John and Dan Peckham, Robert Peckham II, Heather Perry and Meagan Peckham-Allan, and Ashley Phillips. Six great grandchildren, Kyer and Alexa Perry, Emmaline and Steven Allen and Scotlynn and Emelia Phillips and Ava and Charlie Peckham. Along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her husband Robert E. Peckham, a son, John Peckham and a brother E. Duane Davis.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery on Monday February 14, 2002 at 11:00 a.m.
