BENNINGTON

Donald W. Davis, 103, a resident of Chapel Road, Bennington, died Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Great Barrington, MA May 5, 1918, he was the son of the late Charles and Isabelle (Buchey) Davis. Don received his education in the Great Barrington schools.

Don was employed at the William E. Dailey Company in Shaftsbury for 27 years during which time he drove 18 wheelers over Route 9 to Brattleboro. He also worked at the Davidson estate on Equinox Mountain where he operated all types of heavy equipment. In addition he drove a pulp throughout the Adirondacks and cut and delivered firewood throughout a wide area.

Don was a former member of both the Bennington Moose Lodge and the Bennington Eagles Club.

Survivors include his significant other of 36 years, Jane A. Forrest of Bennington; two sons, Richard Davis of Sunderland and Larry Davis (Sharon) of Arlington; two grandchildren, David Davis of Arlington and Susan Herrmann of Dorset; three great-grandchildren, Emily O'Neil-Hopkins and James and Sarah Hawley; four step-children, Vicki Jerome, William Martin, David and Joseph Forrest. Don was predeceased by four brothers and sisters.

At Don's request private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
