Betty Lavinia Croft

Betty L. Croft, 85 formerly of Sandgate, VT , passed away on February 17, 2025 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. She was born in Queens, NY on March 3, 1939, the daughter of Ernest and Eola (Ufer) Bergdoll. Betty married Lester Croft, Sr., on September 15, 1956. Mr. Croft passed away in 1991.

Betty worked for Hale Company in East Arlington then as a dispatcher for many years with both the Bennington and Manchester Vermont Police Departments. Betty lived in Sandgate from 1971 to 2015. She was most recently a resident at Crescent Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bennington. She loved to travel, especially with her senior group in Shaftsbury.

Betty is survived by her children; Lester Stallings Croft, Jr., of South Glens Falls, NY, Scott Croft of Sunderland, VT, Todd (Heather) Croft of Manchester, VT and Penny (Chris) Budro-Evans of Grants Pass, OR., her grandchildren,; Thomas James Croft, Katrina Croft, Andrea Sargent, Gary Croft, Todd Croft, Jr., Kevin Croft, Rebecca Croft and several great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Betty was predeceased by a son, Tony (Lorraine)Croft, her brothers, Robert, Doc and Ernest “Billie” Bergdoll and her companion James Buccalo.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank Wendy Croft for the time she spent visiting with Betty during her stay at Crescent Manor.

A graveside service for Betty will be held in the spring.
