BENNINGTON
Mrs. Winifred M. Holland, 93, widow of George R. Holland, a resident of Crossover Road, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
Winnie was born in Bennington on April 8, 1924, daughter of the late Herbert A. and Sarah (Green) Hulett.
Winnie received her early education in the Shaftsbury schools and was a graduate of North Bennington High School and St. Josephs Business College.
George and Winnie were married in Rockville, Maryland and George passed away in 2008 following 61 years of marriage. In earlier years Winnie was employed as the secretary to the president at Bennington College and later at the Vermont State Public Defenders Office in Bennington.
She had been a member for many years of both the Villagers Home Extension Group and the Quiet Valley Quilters.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Holland of Grantham, NH; a grandson, Adam Foley and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jennifer Puffer and a sister and two brothers, Sally Borger, Benjamin and Herbert Hulett.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Friday, June 16, 2017 at 12:00 noon.
Friends may call at the funeral Home Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will take place in the family lot in St. Johns Cemetery, North Bennington.
