Winfred A. Dufresne, 66, of Bennington , Vermont died unexpectedly on September 1st. Born in Bennington on December 13, 1949 he was the son of Winfred Sr.and Marion (Knights) Dufresne.
Bubby, known as the fisherman and hunter of Bennington would always be the guy tracking the big one in his secret hunting place that only the few privileged would know. You always knew where you stood with Bubby, his quick wit and tell it like it is humor was endeared by all.
In 2011, he retired as an Operator of the Wastewater Treatment Facility for the town of the Bennington after 33 years of service . "I've been taking everyone's s*** for 33 years, now it's time for them to take mine", he said at retirement. Besides hunting and fishing, his interests included testing his luck scratching lottery tickets, watching NASCAR and the Weather Channel, cooking and sharing chili recipes and telling stories.
Survivors include his canine friend, Miss Molly, daughter Julie and her husband Jeff Dickie of Grand Isle, VT. Daughter Jessica, and her husband Tramaine Hill of Cedar Park, Texas. Granddaughter, Taylor and grandsons Cameron, Trae, Cash and Vaun and former wife Joyce Dufresne. Three sisters, Rosemarie, Deborah, Patricia and five brothers, Stephen, Robert, Timothy, Christopher and Armond. He was predeceased by sisters Sherry, Theresa, brother Richard and canine companion, hiking partner Chloe.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Sons Funeral Home Thursday, September 8th from 4-6pm. A potluck celebration will be held at the American Legion immediately at the end of the calling hours.
