Willie Mae Hoyt, 87, widow of George W. Hoyt, a resident of Beech Street, Bennington, died December 25, 2018 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.
Born in Boswell, Oklahoma April 13, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Alice (Grusendorf) Burkett. She received her education in the Lubbock, Texas schools.
Willie Mae and George were married on April 10, 1948 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington. George died August 6, 2001.
In earlier years Willie Mae was employed at various factories in the area and later by the late Harlan Miller in Shaftsbury. In earlier years she was a member of the Putnam Hose Company Ladies Auxillary. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Knights of Bennington; four sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jean Kenyon of Derby, VT, George M. "Mick" and Connie Hoyt of Watertown, CT, Keith E. and Lori Hoyt of Bennington and Tracy W. and Tina Hoyt of White Creek, NY; 11 grandchildren, Lisa Kenyon, Robert Kenyon, Gregory Hoyt, Rebecca Jones, Jennifer Thornell, Melissa Knights, Marcy Ricci, Jamie Hoyt, Jessica Hoyt, Billy Hoyt and Jeremy Hoyt; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty June Caminiti of Sacramento, CA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Willie Mae was predeceased by a son-in-law, James Knights and by a brother and three sisters, Robert Burkett, Helen Clancy, Mary Lauzon and Dorothy Chaffin.
Private services will take place at the convenience of the family.
Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
