William R. Vetter, 67, of Bennington, VT, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on September 15, 2024, following a long illness. Bill was born in Patterson, NJ on December 7, 1956, the son of Ralph and Olive (Hook) Vetter. The Vetters moved from New jersey to White Creek, NY in 1966. Bill received his education in Hoosick Falls Schools and was a graduate of Hoosick Falls High School Class of 1975. Bill married the love of his life, Autumn Dorman, in White Creek, NY on September 30, 2017.
In his younger years, Bill would enter his cows in the County Fair’s. Bill was a huge food guy and spent most of his working life in food service. He started as a chef at Bennington College and finished his career as a food broker with MAP Food Service.
Bill was also a huge sports fan, the Red Sox and Patriots being his two favorite teams. He enjoyed listening to classic rock, especially KISS. He loved gardening and animals. He will be truly missed by his four-legged best friend, Buddy Vetter.
Bill is survived by his wife, Autumn Dorman, of Bennington, VT, his two daughters; Jessica J. Vetter and Bridget Gallant, both of Bennington, VT, his grandchildren; Samantha Greene, Jadyn Clark and Grady Maroney, his uncle who was more like a brother to him, Carl Vetter, his sister-in-law, Robin Vetter and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward Vetter and his best friend, Len Austin.
Family and friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington, VT on Tuesday October 1 from 4-6 pm. A Memorial Service will be held after the conclusion of calling hours.
