William F. Slade, 82, a resident of Water St. in North Bennington, VT passed away Saturday January 2, 2021 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY following a brief illness.
He was born in South Londonderry, Vermont December 23, 1938. He was the son of the late Roy F. and Louise (Beaulier) Slade. He served in the United States Marine Corp.
Following his service, Bill was employed as a driver for the late William Morse. He later pursued a logging career with Rynard Gundrum of Grafton, New York. William also drove tractor trailer for Globe Union and Johnson Controls.
He enjoyed racing cars, traveling and going to casinos. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy J. Slade. His children, Cathy M. Mayer and her partner John Playotes, Roy A. Slade, William E. Slade and his wife Supartiningsih and Laura Slade and her fiancé James Davis. Ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by three brothers, Raymond, Roy "Buddy" and Bruce Slade and two sisters, Sherry Stone and Jean Lynch.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Saturday January 9, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. Military honors will be offered at the funeral home on Saturday at 4;00 p.m.
