William J. Murphy, 62, of Grove Street in Bennington, VT, where he resided with his sister and caregiver, Bonnie McDonald, succumbed to his illness and injuries on October 2, 2023. William was born in Bennington on November 11, 1960, the son of William Leo and Linda Louise (Gallipo) Murphy. He received his education in Springfield, VT schools. While attending Springfield High School, William was a member of the baseball and soccer teams. He was also the main builder of the Springfield High School sign. That helped lead him to becoming a carpenter for many years. He worked for CST in Claremont from 1983-97 where he became a supervisor. He built machining for computer chips thru McDermid Inc. in Springfield from 1997-2001. In 2001, he moved to Bennington where he worked for NSK Steering Systems. William worked on homes with a crew, on the side, and was a great carpenter until his injury’s took over his life. He leaves behind a daughter, Melissa (Justin) Woodell of Chester, NH, a granddaughter, Isabella, his mother, Linda Murphy, a daughter-in-law, Lynne Rock and son-in-law, Michael Rock, his siblings; Bernard (Julie) McDonald of Orrington, ME, Bonnie McDonald, of Bennington, VT, Bruce Murphy of Beverly Hills, FL, Brian Murphy of Crystal River, FL, Barry Murphy of Beverly Hills, FL and Robert Murphy and his partner Jacob Trpisovsky, of Hudson, NH. He was predeceased by his father, William L. Murphy and his ex-wife, Marcy. Friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home 628 Main Street Bennington, VT on Friday October 13, 2023 from 1-4 PM.
