William W. Bolton Sr., of North Bennington, VT, passed away at his home on November 16, 2024 at the age of 81. He was born in Bennington, VT on March 24, 1943 the son of Vernon Percy Bolton and Helena (Burgess) Bolton. Bill received his education in Bennington, VT and went on to join the Marines from 1960-1970 where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was self-employed as a carpenter throughout his career and went on to later work as a Water/Sewer Technician at Stratton Mountain. Bill was a member of the Bennington Elks Lodge #567, the VFW, and the American Legion where he made lifelong friendships. In 1991 Bill married his loving wife and best friend Linda Bolton. Their years together were spent traveling and exploring different parts of the country making friends on the way. They built a loving home surrounded by friends and family that will greatly miss him. Bill is survived by his wife Linda of 36 years, his son William Wayne Bolton Jr. (Pamela) of Granville, NY, son Harry James Bolton (Marie) of Bennington, VT, daughter Angel Gardner (Jim) of Lexington Park, MD. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Caleb, Ryan, Michael, and Kimberly – and his great grandchildren: Maddie, Landon, Mason, Lincoln, Khoen and Forest - who brought much happiness and joy to his life. Their Poppy will be greatly missed. A funeral service will be held at Mahar Funeral Home on November 21, 2024 at 12:00 pm. Friends and relatives of William are invited to calling hours prior to the funeral service starting at 10:00 am. Burial with military honors will be presented at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington following the service. The family requests that in memory of Bill, that all donations be made to The Bennington Veterans’ Home in Bennington, VT to support his fellow veterans that laid down their lives to protect their country.
