Wilhelmina "Billie" Smith

Billie Smith passed away unexpectedly on November 6, 2021. She was born in Bennington, VT on November 21, 1941, daughter of William F.D. Smith and Florence (Moore) Smith. She graduated from Bennington High School, Class of 1959 and Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS in 1963. She worked in the field of education for her entire career. She taught grades 3-5 mostly at Rock Hill School in Wallingford, CT.
She was a voracious reader. She traveled extensively to all seven continents. She was also an avid birder. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Wallingford.
She is survived by her mother, Florence Smith, her sisters, Ann Smith and Kay Bergquist, her nephew, Kyle Bergquist (Amy), and her great-niece Ellen, and her niece Allison Bergquist, and several cousins. She is pre-deceased by her father, William F.D. Smith and her long-time companion, David Robinson.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Wallingford on Saturday, November 13 at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow. A committal service will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington, VT on Monday, November 15th at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow at the First Baptist Church.
Should friends desire, contributions may be made to The First Baptist Church in Wallingford, CT or the Connecticut Audubon Society, or a charity of your choice.
