Walter Edward Morrissey, 70, a resident of Bethlehem, PA, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Saint Luke's University Hospital in Bethlehem after an extended illness.
Born in Bennington Jan. 19, 1948, he was the son of the late Gerald Edward and Phyllis Barbara (Lukasiak) Morrissey. He received his early education in Bennington parochial schools and was a 1966 graduate of the former Bennington Catholic High School. Mr. Morrissey attended Harvard University where he received a BA in 1970. He received a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University in 1974 and was admitted to the Pennsylvania bar in 1974. He worked as an attorney for the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation before opening a general legal practice in 2007.
Throughout his life, Mr. Morrissey's greatest interest and love was his family, especially his three sons.
Survivors include three children; Walter E. Morrissey II of Bethlehem, PA and Andrew A. (Elizabeth Tena) Morrissey of Easton, PA, sons of Kim (Adams) Morrissey; Robert F. E. Morrissey, son of Teresa (Wellner) Morrissey; two brothers, Brian J. Morrissey of Bennington and Timothy J. (Deborah) Morrissey of Venice, FL; two sisters, Diane B. Daley of Granger, IN and Rep. Mary A. Morrissey of Bennington; one grandchild, Eli, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Morrissey was predeceased by his brother Gerald P. Morrissey and sister Jane C. Maloney.
A grave side burial service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery under the direction of E.P. Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
