Walter John Mika

Walter John Mika, 89 of Bennington, VT, passed away November 5, 2023 at Brookdale Fillmore Pond in Bennington. Walter was born in Chicopee, MA on March 25, 1934, the son of John and Victoria (Lesniack) Mika. Walter worked for many years as a Pressman at Pioneer Packaging in Chicopee, MA. In his earlier years he was an accomplished football and baseball player. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. He was a long-standing member of the Chicopee Sportsmen’s Club. Walter loved to play cards and was a huge New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. He amassed a lot of friends over his 89 years and most of all he was a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Walter is survived by his children; David (Elise) Mika of Meredith, NH and Christine (Michael) Keenan of Shaftsbury, VT, He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Newman of Massachusetts, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Mike, his sisters Regina and Emily and 2 grandsons. Services for Walter will be held in the spring in Chicopee, MA.
