Violet Harrington Burdick Richter (Harrington)

Violet Harrington Burdick Richter, age 82, a resident of Bennington, died on Saturday, December 29, 2018 following a long illness.

She was born in Stephentown, NY on July 14, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Peter and Emma (Shortsleeves) Harrington.

She received her education in local schools. Over the years, she had been employed at the Pownal Tannery, Bennington Pottery, McDonald's and was the Assistant Manager at the Salvation Army Store in Bennington where she retired from. In her free time, Violet enjoyed knitting, and doing word puzzles.

She married Harry Richter in Bennington. He has predeceased her.

Violet is survived by her children: Hazel (Robert) Yerdon of Grafton, NY, Nancy Burdick of Bennington, VT, Cinda Burdick of Bennington, VT, Robin (Mike Crowe) of Grafton, NY, Julia Rose of Stillwater, NY, Harold Burdick (David Waggoner) of Hoosick Falls, NY, Loren Burdick of Hoosick, NY and Carole Weeden Sweet (John). Violet leaves many many grandchildren, great grandchildren and five great, great, grandchildren. Violet has one sister that survives; Mabel (Lloyd) Burdick of Petersburgh, NY, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She leaves behind her very special friend Carol Niles.

Besides her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank her granddaughter Kristy Hunt for her devoted care for her grandmother during her illness. Also to thank Bayada Hospice and Nursing for the care they showed to Violet.

A memorial service will be held on July 13, 2019 at 1:00pm at her sister Mabel's home.
