Tracy Ann Bates (Gardner)

March 2, 1969 — January 24, 2022

Tracy Ann Bates, 52, a resident of Furlong Road in Pownal, VT died Monday January 24, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born in Bennington, VT March 2, 1969. She was the daughter of the late Robert Gardner and Judith (Inman) Gardner who survives. She received her early education in Pownal and was a 1988 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School.

She married William George Bates on August 3, 2002.

In earlier years Tracy worked at CB Sports in Bennington. She later worked as a caregiver. She loved to be with older people and to hear their stories. She provided in home care for the elderly. Tracy had been employed at Equinox Terrace in Manchester and while living in Kentucky she worked at Homestead.

Tracy's pride and joy was her granddaughter, Layla. She also enjoyed riding horses with her daughters.

Survivors include her husband, William George Bates of Shushan, NY. Her children Ashley Nicole O'Dell and her husband Timothy Winchell of Pownal, VT, Zachary Joseph Bates of Salem, NY and Morgan Marie Bates of Eagle Bridge, NY. A granddaughter, Layla Anne Winchell of Pownal. Her mother, Judith Gardner of Bennington Two brothers, Robert Gardner (Josie) of Berlin, NY and Shawn Gardner (Lexie) of Bennington. A sister Heidi Gardner (Bob) of New Hampshire. Along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday January 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until the time of the service.

The entombment will take place in Park Lawn Chapel with the burial to take place in the North Pownal Cemetery in the spring.
