Thomas J. Hoard Sr. passed after a brief illness in Bennington VT. Tom was born and spent most of his life in the Bennington area. He retired from Stanley Tools after a life-long career. His favorite times in life were spent in the woods of Vermont, hunting. He also enjoyed local racing as well as Nascar. Tom loved traveling to his favorite vacation spot, Virginia Beach.
The past 10 years, Tom enjoyed his life in Hartwell, GA with his wife Dona. He found pleasure there working on his many projects, taking long walks especially with his beloved dog Lucy and riding in his golf cart to Lake Hartwell watching for the local deer. You could always spot him under his iconic bucket hat.
Tom is survived by his wife, Dona Hoard, son Doug (Carroll) Hoard and daughter Carlene Bacon, his brothers, Rodney (Pat) Hoard and Claude Hoard as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Tom was pre-deceased by 2 sons, Thomas J Hoard Jr. and Paul Bacon, his brothers Edwin Hoard and Allen Hoard and his parents Rodney and Lillian Hoard.
A memorial service for Tom will be held on Saturday March 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Berlin 15 N. Main Street Berlin, New York
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to your local animal shelter or humane society.
