Theresa R. Boutin, 96, a former resident of Division Street, died Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation following a long illness.
Born in Bennington on November 4, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Eugene D. Betit Jr. and Matilda (LaFrancois) Betit. She received her education at Sacred Heart School and St. Josephs Business College in Bennington.
Theresa married Joseph A. Boutin at Sacred Heart Church on September 14, 1945. Mr. Boutin died October 7, 1960.
In earlier years Theresa was employed at E.Z. Mills and later for many years at Union Carbide Corporation until her retirement in 1986.
Theresa was life long member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church and a member of St. Anne's Society at the church. She had also been a member of the VFW Post 1332 Auxiliary and the Bennington Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna J. Chenaille of Bennington; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary J. and Linda Boutin of Fair Haven; four grandchildren, Jennie (Todd) Howland, Melanie (Dan) Gaiotti, Carmen (John) Razai and Thomas (Amanda) Chenaille; eight great-grandchildren, Jonathan and James Razai, Ryan Chenaille, Leah, Bryce and Trent Howland and Josie and Alice Gaiotti; a brother, Clarence Betit of Chesapeake, VA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband Theresa was predeceased by a son, Paul J. Boutin, a son-in-law, Ernest Chenaille and eight brothers and sisters, Eva Betit, Francis Betit, Louise Johnson, Leo Betit, Rose Brown, Yvonne Blechner, Nancy Clark and Adeline Squires.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 12:00 p.m.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery
