BENNINGTON
Theodore S. "Ted" Tifft, 71, a resident of North Branch Street, Bennington, died Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long illness.
Born in Bennington on August 29, 1945 he was the son of the late Thomas and Dolly (Stone) Tifft. Ted received his education in the Bennington schools.
He married the former Maxine Ruff in Bennington on August 29, 1964. Maxine died March 9, 2009.
Ted was employed at Johnson Controls in Bennington for 25 years. An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing his guitar.
Survivors include four children, Mary (Leo) Betit of Pownal, Tammy Bisson of Bennington, Theodore "Chip" (Debbie) Tifft of Pownal and Ernest (Jessica) Tifft of Arlington; six grandchildren, Courtney Camdon, Alicia Betit, Cody and Joshua Bisson, Jordan Reynolds and Brielle Tifft; four great-grandchildren, Jadyn, Madysen and Hayden Spencer and Parker Betit; two sisters, Dorothy Vollor of Bennington and Shirley (Ben) Lohan of Las Vegas, Nevada; a brother, Norman (Mary) Tifft of Pownal and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at St. Johns Cemetery in North Bennington on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
