Theodore Beriau

Theodore F. "Ted" Beriau Sr., 98, of West Harwich, MA passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 15, 2025 at the Vermont Veterans Home, in Bennington, Vermont - which provided a caring environment for his last years.

He was the fourth son (of eleven children) of Joseph and Delia (Goyette) Beriau of Worcester, MA. He left school at the outbreak of WWII, later completing his high school equivalency, enlisting in the Navy and was recalled back for the Korean War. He married the love of his life Estelle (Luvisi) Beriau in 1948. Upon leaving the Navy, he returned back to Worcester, Massachusetts to join his dad and two brothers in the J.A. Beriau Roofing Company. He helped build the company into one respected for its integrity and quality work. An avid boyscout and sea scout in his youth, he stayed active in scouting as an adult - going on innumerable camping and canoe trips, and having owned several different canoes and sailboats. At home in nature and on the water, he would have made a great frontiersman with his talents in these areas and his hardy and resourceful nature. He loved drives in the country and visiting historical and natural sites.

He has survived by his son David Beriau (Helene) of Hoosick Falls, NY; his children Taliesin (and Kait Whilhelm) and daughter Poppy of Broad Brook, CT; and Clea Beriau (and Marshall Keyes) and son Deaglan of Hoosick Falls, NY. The children of Ted Beriau Jr - his son Ted and wife MaryEllen Beriau and children Ashley and TJ of Holden, MA; his daughter Tina (Beriau) and husband Scott Gillaspie and children Nikolas and Natalia of Rutland, MA; Ted's daughter Nancy Beriau and Libero Molinari of East Sandwich, MA, and their children Daniel and Danielle Molinari, son Sawyer and daughter Madison of Brookline, NH; Melanie (Molinari) and husband Sean Lizotte and their children, Blake and Victoria of Whitman, MA; Heather (Molinari) and husband Nelson Penney, and their children Olivia and Jackson of Holden MA; and Thomas and Danielle Molinari and their children Eleanor and Hunter of Pembroke, MA. Also he is survived by his daughter-in-law Barbara Milk Beriau (wife of Ted Jr.) of Buzzards Bay, MA. Three sisters: Marilyn Vranos of Worcester, MA, Marsha Morin of Colorado, and Carol Kane of Florida. As well as numerous nephews and nieces in whom he took great delight.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife Estelle Luvisi Beriau, and devoted son Ted Beriau Jr. Five brothers: Wilfred Beriau of Auburn, MA, Paul Beriau of Worcester, Joseph Beriau of Worcester, Bernard Beriau of Cape Cod and Clodold Beriau of Arizona. Two sisters: Lucille Chestnut, and Rita Beriau of Worcester, MA.

A Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Trinity Church located on US-28, West Harwich, MA 02671 on February 3, 2025 at 10:00 am. Navy Honors will follow at the Bourne National Cemetery on Connery Ave, Buzzards Bay, MA 02542 at 1:15pm. There will be a reception for friends and family at the Towne Tavern - 3138 Cranberry Highway, Wareham, MA at 2:00 pm.

Ted was known for his mischievous and ready smile, playful sense of humor, and great compassion and generosity. He lived by his motto - Do the Right Thing and Fear No One. He is a legend who will be deeply missed.
