Terri Lee Kennedy

October 7, 1958 — October 9, 2022

BENNINGTON-

Beloved mother, sister, and friend, Terri Lee Kennedy (Creel), 64 of Bennington, VT. passed peacefully from this plane of existence while asleep at home, just as she had wished, on Sunday, October 9th, 2022 after a long illness.

Terri was born on October 7th, 1958 in Waterbury Connecticut to Nancy Ryan and Glenn Creel II. At only 4lbs, 12oz when born, the doctors were sure she wouldn’t be long for this world. She fooled them! They didn’t know Terri’s ingrained fierceness, and willpower.

This fighting spirit had led her to do anything she set her mind to. Her first job was working at Green Mountain Race track in Pownal, VT where her father had been a jockey agent at the time. Through her job of walking horses, she met the love of her life, and future father of her children. He, a horse trainer, whisked her away to the lands of tornados, snakes, scorpions and tarantulas, otherwise known as his hometown in Texas- let’s just say, she moved her family back north after a few eventful years on the ranch. Over the years Terri would have various trades she effortlessly juggled while raising her children and giving them the best that she could; she spent years working at the The Brasserie restaurant at The Bennington Potters; later, Terri became passionate about nursing, working at the Eddy Senior Care in Latham, NY. Her most revered position was providing end of life care for The New Skete Nuns in Cambridge NY.

When no longer able to work, Terri found it rewarding volunteering with local programs in Bennington helping those in recovery, victims of domestic violence and displaced peoples. Terri was an endless seeker of knowledge, she loved educating her mind and spirit, influencing others around her to do the same.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn J. Creel II and Nancy Ryan Creel; her husband and father of her children, Johnas Dale Kennedy; her sister, Catherine Creel; and brother Tommy Creel.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Nancy (Kayla Miranda) Kennedy, New Albany, IN; Ryan (Courtney) Kennedy, Hoosick Falls, NY; Kevin (Megan) Kennedy, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and Chera (Robert) Hollar, Battiest, OK. Siblings, Beth Ann (Wayne) Brant, Troy, NY, Glenn (Steve) Creel III, Portland, ME, and Julie (Jeff) MacDonald, Pittsfield, MA. She also leaves behind 10 cherished grandchildren; numerous treasured nieces and nephews; as well as many esteemed neighbors and caretakers.

A memorial service for Terri will be held on Friday October 14, 2022 at 2pm at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201 with her sister Reverend Julie MacDonald officiating.
