Terrance Lee Bishop

August 13, 1949 — December 26, 2024

Terrance Lee, “Terry” Bishop, 75, a resident of Shaftsbury, VT passed away unexpectedly at home with his wife, on Thursday, December 26, 2024.

Terry was born in Bennington on August 13, 1949 to Henry James, “Jim”, and June “Clara” Bishop. Terry attended Bennington catholic schools, graduating from Bennington Catholic High in 1967.

Terry was always hardworking and successful at anything he put his mind to. Growing up, he was active in little league and small game hunting, fishing, and camping. As a teen and young man, Terry competed regionally, was Vermont State Champion, and in the Junior Olympics, earned gold in skeet shooting at the age of 17. He enjoyed earning his pilot's license and owning his own Aeronca Champ plane, a passion he shared with his dad. Terry was a hunter and a conservationist all of his life and all over North America. He was a man of many trades, from working as a meat cutter, to the NAPA Store and Demarco’s Sporting Goods, he then opened his own business, T & D Sporting Goods for two decades with great success. His later professions included the auto sales industry and he retired from working as a rural mail carrier at the US Postal Service finally at the age of 72. Terry enjoyed beach vacations, especially visiting Ogunquit, Maine, golfing with his grandsons, time with friends, supporting shooting sports as a NRA Life Member and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Inaugural Member, visiting Fenway Park to catch a Red Sox game with his family, and came to love cruising this year, as introduced by his daughters.

Terry is survived by his wife, Dana Walsh. He is also survived by his two daughters, Rebecca Bishop Ware (Michael Sr.) and Allison Bishop (Timothy), and grandchildren Brandon Taber, Tyler Walsh (Megan), and Adeline Bishop. Terry is also survived by step-children Timothy and Alleson Gulley, and step-grandchildren, Zayne, Amelia, and Laddeson Gulley. Terry is survived by one sister, Jill Bishop. Terry had special relationships as a loving caregiver to Payten and Payge Wilson and Mycah Becker, as well close relationships with his nieces and nephew, Jennifer Bishop, Lana Prouty, and James Bishop, and cousins Sue Connor, and Alan and Jason Gauthier. Terry was previously married to Dolores Percey (Milligan) and Judy Betit.

Terry was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Kevin Bishop earlier this spring, and his special aunts Rita Farrington and Helen Whitman. Terry always treasured the time that he spent with his mom, caring for her daily in her last year before her passing in 2022.
