Sybil C. Poulen (Wallach)

September 14, 1939 — July 28, 2018

Sybil C. Poulen, 78, a resident of Bell St. in Bennington died Saturday July 28, 2018 at her residence following a long illness surrounded by her family.

She was born in Danbury, CT September 14, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Irving and Clara (Bennett) Wallach. Sybil received her education in Danbury.

She married Gary N. Poulen on July 21, 1963 in Danbury. Mr. Poulen died April 24, 2010.

In earlier years Sybil was employed at Reeves Sound Craft in Danbury. She then began her family and stayed home to take care of her children. Once the children were grown up she went to work as a baker at the Apple Barn and Cider Mill.

Sybil was a member of the VFW Post 1332 Auxiliary, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, word puzzles and gardening.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, John Poulen (Donna) of Bennington, Clara Wilusz (Daniel) of Cheshire, MA, Dorraine Buell of Bennington, Charles Poulen of Troy, NY and Sandra Poulen of Guilderland, NY; Four grandchildren, Jamie Poulen of Bennington, Emily Wilusz of Portsmouth, NH, Markis Poulen of Guilderland, NY and Grace Buell of Bennington. A sister Elaine Gulack and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by two brothers and three sisters.

A graveside service will take place at the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery on Wednesday August 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Doctor Robin Greene officiating.
