Susan Marie Desamsonow
November 12, 1961 — February 14, 2016
Our beautiful sweet Susan passed away unexpectedly at her home in Bennington, VT on February 14, 2016. She was born on November 12, 1961 in Bennington, daughter of Agnes Carriere and the late Francis Carriere.
Susan graduated from Mt. Anthony Union High School in 1980, then completed a 4 year Optician apprenticeship under the sponsorship of Dr. James Fitzgerald and became a licensed optician. She was a member of the American Board of Opticians and worked in the profession for 30 years.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Amy, her siblings, John, Stephen, Lydia, Kristina, Debra, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles, aunts and in-laws. Susan always referred to her large group of friends as extended members of her family.
Susan was loved by everyone she touched with her bright smile, gregarious nature and generosity. She loved family and friend gatherings, caring for the elderly and spending time in nature with her favorite kayak. Her daughter, Amy, was the song in her heart and Susan enjoyed the wonderful companionship she shared with her parents. Her everlasting gift to us all was her constant acts of kindness.
May her soul rest in peace and her spirit live on in our memories.
Memorial services for Susan will be held at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington on May 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions in Susan Desamsonow's memory may be made to BAYADA Hospice to be placed in the Patients Need Fund at BAYADA.
