Shirley Anne Morse 86, a resident of Shaftsbury, Vermont, passed away peacefully on August 5th, 2024, at Crescent Manor Nursing Home in Bennington, VT following a long illness.
Born on November 16th, 1937, in Bennington. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Delia (Menerd) Harrington. Shirley received her early education at Sacred Heart School in Bennington, and later attended Bennington High School.
Around that time, in November of 1954; She married Ted Morse at Sacred Heart Church in Bennington. Following their marriage, Shirley became a stay-at-home mom to their seven children.
In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cooking. Shirley also was very fond of traveling with Ted especially to Nashville, Tennessee; one trip to Nashville involved a front row seat at the Grand Ole Oprey for George Jones 80th birthday. Occasionally, Shirley enjoyed going to the casino with Ted to test their luck with gambling.
Above all, she was a loving, positive and humorous person who loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 70 years, Ted Morse, her children; Ralph Morse, Lorelei Morse, Gloria Lord, Norman Morse, Colin Morse, Matthew Morse Sr., and Shannon (Jennifer) Morse. Shirley is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.
She is predeceased by two children; Teddy and Shirley, and her brother and sister-in-law; Lawrence “Mo” and Millie Harrington, as well as her lifelong friend, Joan Wood.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday August 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington, VT. Burial will follow in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Friday August 9, 2024, from 11:30am until 12:30pm.
