Shirley A. Mears (Maynard)

Shirley A. Mears, 76, a resident of West Road, Bennington, died peacefully on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at her residence following a long illness.

Born in Adams, MA on October 5, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Lyle and Mary (LaFountain) Maynard. She received her education in the Adams schools.

Shirley married Charles G. Mears on July 4, 1984. Charles died January 18, 1997.

In earlier years Shirley was employed at Stanley Tools in Shaftsbury and the Ames store in Bennington. She later worked at the Vermont Veterans Home for several years until the time of her retirement. Shirley enjoyed visiting with friends and making new friends. She was kind, loving and a great joke teller. Her favorite TV shows were Golden Girls and Family Feud.

Survivors include a daughter, Renee Mears of Bennington; a sister, Loretta Mears of Bennington; four step-daughters, Wendy, Tammy, Pammy and Brandy and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family.

Burial will take place in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery.
