Shirley Duignan Cedarblade, age 90, of Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. She was born on February 26, 1933, in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Shirley was the eldest of two children. She grew up in London, England until the London Blitz of World War II when, following intense bombing, she was separated from her parents and evacuated to Weston-Super-Mare in Western UK with millions of other children. She returned to London only to experience the German V-2 rocket attacks forcing her into the underground shelters. After the war, Shirley moved to Leopoldville, Belgian Congo, where she met and married Christopher Duignan, a US airline executive. She began an incredible life journey, having three children while living in Ireland, the Philippines, France, England, Spain, and finally, the US. Her kindness, compassion, and strong nature provided the structure for a healthy family, close friendships, and a guiding light to others. She was an amazing person whose spirit will remain alive and well. Living family members include her children, Wayne (Mary) Duignan, Bruce (Mary) Duignan, and Ellen (Frank) Murray. Grandchildren include Evan and Claire Duignan, Patrick (Andrea), Christopher, and Brendan Murray. Preceding Shirley in death are her husbands, Christopher Duignan, Donald Cedarblade, and Gene Blanchard. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
