Shereen E. Callahan, 68 a resident of Fourth Street, Hoosick Falls, NY and a former resident of Woodford, passed away Friday, July 15 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Bennington September 7, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Gerald A. Croff and the former Ethel (Hicks) Croff who survives. Shereen received her education in Bennington schools and was a 1965 graduate of Bennington High School.
Shereen married John E. "Jack" McKenna in Woodford on April 21, 2001. Jack died August 26, 2009. She later married Richard Callahan on May 20, 2011.
Shereen was employed for 23 years at NSK Steering Systems in Bennington until her retirement in 2013.
An avid snowmobiler for many years, Shereen served as president of the Woodford Sno-Busters for several years. The Annual Very Special People snowmobile ride for people with special needs was Shereen's most enjoyable winter event. Guests looked forward to that day like it was Christmas morning. Shereen enjoyed golfing and had been a member of both the Stanford and Hoosick Falls Country Clubs. She was also a member of St. Stanislaw Society in Hoosick Falls.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Callahan of Hoosick Falls; a daughter and son-in "law , Kathleen and Darius "DJ" Lingener of Hoosick Falls; two sons , Michael Main of Shushan, NY and Stephen Main and his wife Amber of Bennington; her mother, Ethel Croff of Bennington; six grandchildren , Lauren , Tanner, Rebecca, Paige, Nicole and Kennedy; two-grandsons, Corbin and Westyn; a former daughter-in-law, Darcy Main of Bennington; two brothers , Gerald Croff and Gregory Croff of Bennington; a very close friend since they were 4 years old, Susan Walsh of Bennington; two very special nephews, Brad and Tyler Croff of Bennington and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Kathleen Croff who died June 11, 2016.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 20th at 2:00 PM with Rev. Penny Rich Smith, pastor of the North Bennington Congregational Church officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, July 20th from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
