Scott D. Jacobs, 64, a resident of Pleasant Valley Road in Bennington, VT died peacefully Thursday, April 27, 2023 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born in Bennington, VT February 21, 1959. He was the son of the late Leon and Muriel (Bass) Jacobs. He received his education in Bennington and was a graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School class of 1977. In earlier years Scott was employed with the US Forrest Service. He also helped his father in the family business, Bennington Amusement. Scott had also worked for UPS, Maggie’s Market and the Grand Union. Since 1993 he has been employed at Hannaford Supermarket in Bennington. He was a member of the Bennington Elks Lodge # 567 and the Moose. Scott was an avid turkey and deer hunter. He loved to spend time at the family camp on Mount Anthony, Buckhorn Lodge. He was also a coin collector and enjoyed astronomy and watching the moon and the stars. He loved to sit in his living room and look out at the mountain views. Scott was well known for his infectious laugh and ever-present smile. Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Jacobs of Bennington and Anna Jacobs (Joshua Scheffler) of Bennington; a family friend, Victoria who he thought of like a daughter; his former wife, Lisa Jacobs Ottaviano of Bennington; two grandchildren, Jacob Pello and Adeline Wilcox; a brother Kevin Jacobs (Ruth) of Pennsylvania and two nieces, Shannon and Morgan Jacobs. As well as many cousins, great nieces and nephews and numerous friends that are considered family. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Wayne Jacobs. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday, May 5th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life for Scott will be held at the Elks on Saturday, May 6th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The dress is casual. All are welcome. If friends desire contributions in memory of Scott D. Jacobs may be made to either VNA & Hospice or the Elks Silver Towers through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
