Sandra L. Harrington, 76, previously Sandra L. Williams, married to the late Stephen J. Williams also of Bennington, died Wednesday June 1, 2022. For the past few months, she had been cared for by the Bennington Health and rehabilitation facility. After months of a courageous attempt to regain her health, hospice assisted in her care so that she could be at home with her daughters by her side.
She was born August 29, 1945 and spent her lifetime in Bennington, VT. She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Edna (Doeherty) Stanley. She was a graduate at Bennington High School. This year would have marked her 59th high school reunion.
Sandra's career had many facets. In addition to raising two daughters with Stephen, she was employed at First VT Bank and Merchants Bank. She had also worked in the law offices of Terrance Wolfe and Joseph O'Dea. Her most fulfilling endeavors had everything to do with making sure animals lived quality lives. She worked as an animal care technician at local veterinary Clinics in or around Bennington, as well as the local Animal Shelter. She would often foster animals at home, many becoming a permanent part of the family. She spent time obedience training, showing, and even breeding cats and dogs. She was a strong supporter of the Humane Society of the United States, as well as a member of the Bennington Kennell Club.
For some time, she was a member of the Dance Ranch Cloggers. Having a love of music, her latest act was playing ukele. She and other students could be seen at local events with her beloved teacher, Henry. Years ago, She sang in the choir at the First Baptist Church in Bennington, where she continued to be an active member.
Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Williams and Holly Williams of Shaftsbury. Her cousins, Terry Brandi of North Carolina and Ron Lindsey of Shaftsbury. Sandra leaves behind a large extended family of friends.
Friends and family are welcome to attend A graveside service will be held on Thursday June 23, 2022 at 1pm at Park Lawn with a reception to immediately follow at First Baptist Church in Bennington.
