Samuel P. Levitte, 71, a resident of Tel Road, Bennington, died Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation following a brief illness.
Born in Bennington on October 27, 1944, he was the son of the late Samuel and Irene (Tetreault) Levitte. Sam received his education at Sacred Heart School and was a graduate of Bennington Catholic High School.
Sam married the former Cynthia Senecal at Sacred Heart Church in Bennington on June 2, 1979.
He had been employed at the Bennington Post Office for over 30 years until the time of his retirement.
Both Sam and Cindy were volunteer members of the Bennington Rescue Squad for over 30 years. Sam was a member of the Bennington Elks Lodge 567 and American Legion Post 13 in Bennington.
Sam enjoyed traveling, cruises, dancing, playing his ukelie, caring for his home and especially time spent at their condo in Hawaii.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Levitte of Bennington; his father-in-law, Earl Senecal of Bennington; a brother-in-law, Steven Senecal and his wife Wanda of Norwich, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Sam was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Beverly Jepson.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales de Sales Church at 10:00 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death will be offered.
Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
