Roy R. Beardsley

Roy R. Beardsley passed away peacefully at Albany Medical Center, Tuesday, December 19, 2023, after an unexpected medical event. Roy was born June 1, 1951 in Goshen, NY to Lillian and Lewellyn Beardsley. He attended schools in Long Island, NY and dedicated himself to serving his country as a Navy man upon graduating. Roy was a proud Vietnam Veteran who continued his passion of service as an active member of the Bennington, VT VFW. Roy had many hobbies including spending time with family and his dogs, hunting, woodworking, reading and watching old Westerns. However, Roy's deepest passion was the love he had for his family! He was a dedicated father to his son, Nicholas, and was incredibly proud when Nick followed in his footsteps to serve his country as a fellow Navy man. Roy would boast this pride to anyone and everyone! He had a way of always being there when you needed him most and enjoyed spending time with his many nieces and nephews. Roy married Sandra (Elwell) Beardsley in 1986 and moved to Potter Hill, NY where they created their life together. Roy is survived by his wife, Sandra, son and daughter in law, Nicholas and Katie Beardsley, his grandchildren Alexis Beardsley, Jayden (Jackson) Beardsley, and Mason and Lucy Beardsley, his sisters, Rita Burgher, Susan Wright, Mary Sullivan and brothers Lewellyn Beardsley and William Beller and their respective spouses as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to share memories and celebrate Roy's life Saturday, December 30th at 1:00pm at the VFW located at 137 North Street in Bennington, VT. Charitable donations in Roy's memory can be made to the Bennington, VT VFW Auxiliary Post 1332.
