Rose M. Brown, 85, widow of Robert F. Brown Sr., a resident of Washington Avenue, died
Thursday, May 11, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born in Bennington on October 10, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Eugene D. and
Matilda (LaFrancois) Betit. Rose received her education in the Bennington schools.
Rose and Bob were married on August 20, 1950 at Sacred Heart Church in Bennington. Bob
died May 24, 2015.
In earlier years Rose was employed at Thomson Manufacturing and Benn Mores. She later
worked at the Union Carbide Corporation for 25 years until the time of her retirement.
Rose loved vacationing, playing Bingo and trips to the casino.
Survivors include four children, Robert F. (Mary Linda) Brown Jr. of Pownal, Allen Brown of
Hershey, PA, Pamela (Bill) Toftness of Bennington, and James Brown (Norman White) of
Montserrat; five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren;
a brother, Clarence Betit of Chesapeake, VA and a sister, Theresa Boutin of Bennington. Rose
was predeceased by ten brothers and sisters.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at
10:30 a.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 11:00 a.m. where
the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
Burial will take place in the family lot in St, Johns Cemetery in North Bennington.
