Rosalie Ann Smith 83, a resident of Bennington, Vermont, passed away peacefully on July 23rd, 2024, at The Pines @ The Glens Falls Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Glens Falls, New York, following a long illness. Born in Bennington on February 28, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Vera E. (Boullais) Hunt. Rosalie received her education in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington High School with the class of 1959. On February 24, 1962, she married Edward W. Smith at the First Baptist Church in Bennington. Mr. Smith passed away on July 30th, 2011. In earlier years, Rosalie was an administrative assistant at the Vermont Technical College/Putnam Nursing School. She also was an assistant to the assistant superintendent of Southwestern Vermont Supervisory Union both in Bennington. She also was previously employed at Stewart Allen Associates in Bennington and at Sprague Electric in North Adams, Massachusetts. Her hobbies and interests included reading, knitting and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter; Karen Rush of Shelton, Connecticut. Her son and daughter-in-law; David E. and Bonnie Smith of Granville, NY. Her five grandchildren; Carrie Anne, Benjamin, Nathanel, Collin, and Brendan. Her four great grandchildren; Edward, Theodore, Vivian, and Connor. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and her sister; Dawn M. Farrar of Malta, NY. Besides her husband, Rosalie is predeceased by a sister Joan R. Myers. Friends and relatives may call at the Mahar Funeral Home in Bennington, on July 29th, 2024 from 11am until 12pm. At the conclusion of calling hours there will be a funeral service for Rosalie also at the funeral home. Following the service, there will be a graveside service at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.
