Ronald D. Worley

December 17, 1937 — March 30, 2016

Ronald D.Worley, 78, a resident of Burrington Road, Pownal, where he lived with his caregivers, Becky Beagle and Chase Shuler, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016 following a long illness.
The youngest of four children, Ron was born in Caroleen, NC December 17, 1937, the son of the late Clarence and Bertha (Laws) Worley. Ron received his education in the North Carolina schools.
Ron married Mary Jane Roy in Waterbury, CT in 1961. Mary died October 23, 2014.
In earlier years Ron was employed at the Pownal Tannery and Pownal Race Track.
A former member of the Bennington Moose Lodge, Ron especially enjoyed both horse and dog racing and trips to OTB.
Survivors include his six children, Lori Russell (Mark) of Arlington, Ronald Worley Jr. (Carol Forsman) of Bennington, Sharon Reilly (Kevin) of Salem, NY, Debbie Galusha (Dennis) of Statesboro, GA, Stacy Whitney (Darrell) of Pownal and Tracey Russell (Robert) of Bennington; two grandchildren that Mr. and Mrs. Worley raised from birth, Rebecca Beagle (Chase Shuler) of Pownal and Joey Brown of Bennington; a former son-in-law, Ralph Brown of Bennington, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ron was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ruth Larabee.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
