Ronald P. Lindsey, Sr., 81 of Shaftsbury, VT, passed away on September 3, 2024 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Ron was born in Bennington, VT on January 29, 1943, the son of Ralph H. and Opal A. (Streeter) Lindsey. He married Rosemary Hogan in St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington on November 16, 1963.
Ron joined the Army Reserves in 1961 and served until September of 1968. Ron was a Quality Control Manager at Johnson Controls and later at Chem Fab. Ron was a 57 year member of the Shaftsbury Fire Department serving as Secretary and Treasurer before serving as its Chief for 10 of those years. He was also a 12 year member of the Norshaft Lions Club. Ron also served on the zoning board in Shaftsbury.
Ron lived for his grandchildren, enjoying every minute spent with them. He was a snowmobile enthusiast and also enjoyed riding motorcycles. He loved camping in Maine and he always looked forward to the summers he could go up there.
Ron is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Rosemary Lindsey of Shaftsbury, VT, his son and daughter-in-law Ronald Jr. and Tonya Lindsey, of Hyannis, MA, and his daughter-in-law Melinda Lindsey of Bennington, VT. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tori Bryce Lindsey, of Hyannis, MA, Ashley Aurelia Lindsey of Brookfield, WI, Max Hunter Lindsey of Hyannis, MA and Molly Rae Lindsey of Bennington, a great grandson Felix Kieran Rondeau of Brookfield, WI and a sister-in-law, Allyn Lindsey. He was predeceased by his son Mark Lindsey and his two brothers, Richard Lindsey and Ralph Lindsey Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday September 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington, VT. Burial with military honors will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Friday September 6, 2024 from 5-7 PM.
