Ronald Warner Hakkinen

Ronald W. Hakkinen, 83 of Bennington, VT, died peacefully at home on December 15, 2022 following a brief illness. Ron was born in Gardner, MA on April 6, 1939, the son of Armassulo and Antena (Widugiris) Hakkinen. Ron was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He was a Chemist for many years with Chem-Fab, which later became St. Gobain working in Formulation and Engineering. Ron was a voracious reader. He also loved riding his motorcycle and driving fast cars. He loved the sport of Boxing and was still training at least once a week at the North Adams, MA YMCA right up until COVID hit. Ronald is survived by his longtime partner, Shirley Archibald of Bennington, his two sons; Travis (Ashley) Hakkinen of North Adams, MA and Douglas (Bernadette) Hakkinen of Florida, MA, a daughter; Nora (Mike) Virick of Peoria, AZ, and a sister; Kathleen Glinski of Indian Harbor Beach, FL.
