ROGER L. LARUE OBITUARY
LARUE, Roger Lucien, a resident of Sevierville TN, and a former Bennington and Manchester VT resident, died on November 15, 2017 at home in Sevierville after an extended illness. Beloved husband of Gloria DiMaggio Butcher LaRue since 2007, he also was the father by his former wife of Paul L. of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Alan J. of Arlington MA, Gary R. of Sleepy Hollow NY, and Todd G. of Westfield NJ; father-in-law of Lyne Denis, Pamela Wolfson, Susan Barrett and DeeAnn Hampton; grandfather of David, Therese, Madeleine, Natalie, Nicholas and Jacob LaRue. He was the brother of Paul H. of Chicago IL. He was pre-deceased by his former beloved wife Monica Mary (Morawiec) LaRue in 2005 to whom he was married for nearly 56 years, his son Marc E. LaRue in 1977, his parents Lucien H. and Germaine C. LaRue, and his grandson Mathieu in 2009.
Born in Medford MA in 1923, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and eventually became a 1st Lieutenant, served in the Southwest Pacific from 1943 to 1946, and in the US Army Reserves from 1953 to 1955. He received US Army Ribbons for service in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign, the American Theater Campaign, and Philippine Liberation, and also received the Victory Medal.
He attended the College of Holy Cross, was enrolled by the US Army in the Japanese Language program at the University of Michigan, and later obtained his BBA and MBA from that school in 1949.
During his professional career, he was an active member of various companies and business organizations. He retired after 25 years from Xerox Corporation as an executive on the corporate staff.
He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Tennessee and a former member of Sacred Heart St. Francis De Sales Roman Catholic Church in Bennington and St. Paul Catholic Church in Manchester.
A final Mass will be held at Sacred Heart St. Francis De Sales Roman Catholic Church in Bennington VT on Saturday June 23, 2018 at 10am. A private memorial service and internment will be subsequently held for the immediate family only.
