Robert J. "Ski" Zakrzewski Sr.

March 28, 1940 — November 20, 2017

Robert J. "Ski" Zakrzewski Sr., 77, a resident of Easy St. in Hoosick Falls, New York died Monday November 20, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family following a brief illness.

Ski was born in Troy, New York March 28, 1940. He was the son of the late John and Irene (Romanski) Zakrzewski. Ski received his education in Troy, New York.

He married the former Phyllis Welcome on October 25, 1958 at Saint Paul The Apostle Catholic Church in Troy, NY

Ski served in the United States Navy for 20 years as a Communication Technician. He was stationed at many different bases throughout the world.

Following his service to his country Ski was employed at Panciera Chevrolet in Wakefield, Rhode Island. He later worked as a clerk at the US Post Office in Albany, NY, retiring in 2002.

An avid coin collector, Ski also enjoyed camping and for the last 15 years he and his wife Phyllis wintered in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis Zakrzewski of Hoosick Falls, NY, a daughter Karen Curran (Ryan Hannagan) of Shaftsbury, VT and a son, Robert J. Zakrzewski (Christine) of Stillwater, NY. One grandson Kyle Curran (Jhonny) and four step grandchildren, Timothy Curran (Krista Disano), Daniel Curran, and Michael and James Palmieri. A sister Margaret Grubb (Larry) of Clifton, New Jersey and a brother John Zakrzewski (Peggylou) of Clifton Park, New York along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a sister Elizabeth Linacre and a brother Joseph Zakrzewski.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Friday November 24, from 9:00 a.m until 10:30 am.

The committal service with military honors will take place on Friday at the Gerald B. Soloman Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY at noon.
