Robert Stewart Nugent Sr., 80, a resident of Bennington, Vermont passed away peacefully at his residence following a long illness on March 27, 2024. Born on August 24th, 1943, in North Adams, Massachusetts - he was the son of the late Marjorie Burdick. Robert was raised in Williamstown, Massachusetts and later graduated from Mt. Greylock High School in Williamstown. As a young man, Robert joined the United States Navy and served as a radar technician on a submarine during the Vietnam War. Following his return from the Navy, Robert began his career at Williams College of Williamstown. He worked there for many years and retired as their recycling coordinator. On November 24, 2004, Robert married Juîce Braga in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were married for over twenty years. Robert was a coach for the baseball team of Southern Vermont College in Bennington. He was also a member of the American Legion in Williamstown. Robert enjoyed 50s and 60s music and spending time with his dog, Max. Robert loved spending time with his wife, as well as his grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling with them as well. Robert was also a devout Christian; his faith was central to his life. Survivors include his wife, Juîce. His children: Robert Nugent Jr. (Sherry) and Robin Nugent (Andrew). His stepchildren: Tracy Knapp and Apryl Golka (Steve). His grandchildren: Jazmyne Lemaire, Buddy Nugent, Jackson, Ava, and Mason. Robert is also survived by a sister, Phyllis Peterson. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours on April 4th, 2024 at the Mahar Funeral Home in Bennington from 3pm till 4pm, followed by a funeral service at 4pm. If friends should desire, contributions in memory of Robert may be made directly to the National Kidney Foundation.
