Robert Joel Millington

August 13, 1946 — September 24, 2016

Mr. Robert J. Millington, 70, a resident of Morgan St. in Bennington died Saturday September 24, 2016 at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.
He was born in Bennington, VT August 13, 1946. He was the son of the late Frank and Addie (Harrington) Millington. He received his early education in Shaftsbury and was a graduate of Bennington Catholic High School. He later graduated from Saint Joseph's Business College. He proudly served two tours of duty in Vietnam before returning to Bennington.
He married the former Sue Morin on October 16, 1976 in North Bennington.
In earlier years Bob worked at several area car dealerships including, Haddad's, Alcaro's and Morrisons. He had also worked as an orderly at the Southwestern VT Medical Center and for twelve years was employed in the Produce Department at Price Chopper from which he retired.
Bob was a baseball fan and in earlier years coached and umpired little league baseball in both North Bennington and Bennington. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Millington of Bennington. His children, Robert Millington and his wife Luisa of Shaftsbury, Joel A. Millington and his fiancé Amanda Sawyer of Bennington, Nicole Millington and her fiancé J.R. Bird of Cameron, North Carolina. His grandchildren, Trinity Condon, Kayden and Karsen Trapani, Steven Collette, Torah Millington, Franco Millington and Damon, Declan and Destan Bird.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Monday October 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.
The burial will take place in the family lot at Center Shaftsbury Cemetery
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
