Robert J. Kearley (Kearley) Jr.

Robert "Robin" J. Kearley Jr. passed away at 70 years of age on March 12, 2017 at the Southwest Vermont Medical Center.

Robin was born in Townshend, Vermont to Martha Kearley Sonnenfeld and Robert J. Kearley on October 1, 1946. He graduated from Leland & Gray and began his post-secondary education at the University of Connecticut. Robin later received a degree in Horticulture from Vermont Technical College. Following his graduation Robin pursued his field of study and went to work at Longwood Gardens in Kennet Square, Pennsylvania.

At age 24 Robin was diagnosed with Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. He moved to Coral Gables, Florida where he worked as Resident Manager of his small apartment building. Robin also served on the Coral Gables Handicap Advisory Board. In 2003 he returned to Vermont to be near family and resided at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Robin handled his MS with courage, grace and acceptance. He always offered smiles and jokes to his company and caregivers despite his overwhelming disability.

Robin is survived by his sister, Stephanie Kearley Jacob of Dorset, Vermont, his nephew Lars Jacob and family"wife, Jennifer, and sons, Will and Jack, of West Pawlet, Vermont, and niece Katharine Mawhinney of Ellenton, Florida. Robin is also lovingly remembered by his close friend and long-time caregiver, Robin Bostwick-Houran.

A graveside service will be held for the family at the Oakwood Cemetery in Townshend, Vermont.
